EnGIS Technologies is pleased to announce the appointment of Thomas A. Lydon as Business Development Director, North America.
Tom is a dynamic technology business professional with a diverse skill set and international business background. He has over 20 years’ experience in navigation data and software and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Tom was a Senior Manager with Nokia and NAVTEQ (now HERE) where he excelled in various positions in both the R&D and business development areas. During his tenure he worked in Database Operations, Strategic OEM Marketing, Business Analysis, and Technology Alliances.
Tom led company-wide technical industry relations activities including leadership positions in international standards-setting organizations and industry consortia. He served as Chair of the US Working Advisory Group on ITS database technologies and Rapporteur of ISO/TC204 Working Group Three. He also served as representative to the Open Geospatial Consortium and the SAE ITS Council.
Tom has successfully supported public/private partnership projects that included the major global automotive companies and the U.S. Department of Transportation. He was involved at the forefront of some automotive navigation milestones including leading the initial road tests of the first-ever factory installed navigation system in the U.S. and the ADVANCE project which was an early test of the integration of real-time traffic information with a navigation system to avoid traffic congestion.
Additionally, Tom has been actively involved in the extension of map data products for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and Location-based Services for telecommunication mobile devices. He has presented at multiple industry conferences and events including ITS America’s Annual Meeting. Tom most recently provided consulting services regarding various location technology and intelligent transportation-related topics. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa.
