| TTS |
EnGIS now offers Text-to-Speech (TTS) as a modular add-on. EnGIS has developed a sophisticated
TTS implementation to further enhance its product offering.
TTS allows the navigation system to pronounce street names, highways, POI names among others;
for example, the unit instructs the driver ahead by announcing the guidance command and name of the street;
e.g. “turn right on Grant Avenue,” instead of simply prompting “turn right”.
EnGIS has partnered with the award winning TTS engine provider, Loquendo, to ensure pronunciation accuracy, expressiveness, as well as pleasant voice intonation.

EnGIS is now developing an Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) module in partnership with specialist speech engine companies.
Speech recognition represents a significant leap in the safety and user friendliness of navigation systems.
It works by converting spoken words to machine-readable input (for example, to the binary code for
a string of character codes).
